Ever since Zachas murals became an instant attraction and commercial success for the local Penang community and business establishments, many others across Malaysia tried to replicate the concept and emulate its success by coming up with their own murals, to varying degree of success. Here is one such mural which I stumbled upon in downtown Kuala Lumpur recently. I really like the physical and mental anguish depicted on the boy’s contorted face, but could not quite make from the mural itself what is causing him to be in the tormented state he is in, although I think it has something to do with what he is pinching in his fingers and pulling it away from some gummy stuff (bubblegum?). If you have an answer, I would like to hear from you. No clue who the artist is, but he/she certainly did a good job with this mural.
