The above is a recent watercolour painting painted by my elder daughter for one of her school’s arts and craft assignments. I like how she chose to use only two contrasty primary colours – deep blues and yellow for almost the entire painting’s theme – a city’s skyline by the waterfront on a moonlit night. Reminds me of Van Gogh’s The Starry Night. There is a whole lot of paintings and sketches (fashion design, manga, etc.) which my two daughters have done over the years, at school and home (in their leisure time), most of them (the good ones) are filed for their ‘down memory lane’ moments later in life. I have always wanted to digitise them for posterity but have not actually got to doing it. I hope this is the catalyst for me to commence work. She titled this painting ‘Reflected City’, got a ‘B’ for her work. I thought ‘At The Waterfront’ sounds better, call it photographer’s prerogative 🙂 , what is your opinion?
