Bougainvillea Bonanza

Red Bougainvilleas

The dry (with occasional rain) and hot spell is with us now, and if you are a bougainvillea fan, you are in for a treat as they are blooming profusely in their full colourful glory. This thicket of wild bright red bougainvilleas growing to a great height at the side of a dirt road close by a country road caught my eye as I was driving pass over the weekend. I pulled over for a closer look and some photos. Their reds were so intense, just wonderful to look at.

  1. Beautiful pink bougainvillea’s, Ken. Well captured and you brought out the colour perfectly smack in the middle and isn’t too overwhelming. We don’t get too many of these flowers in Melbourne. When I was growing up in KL, I would see them everywhere along with the ixora flower. Hope your week is going well 🙂

      • If the lighting at the time wasn’t right, you could always still snap a photo and work on it in post-processing…the lazy way out. But post-processing can be helpful, I like it.

I lived in the Cheras and downtown (think Sungei Wang) areas when I was younger. Also spent some time over at Subang Jaya. Is that where you’re at?

        • that would have been my last resort :). flash photography is something i need to learn and experiment with a lot more off. close guess, mabel; i am actually living in shah alam at present, spent quite a bit of time in pj/kl prior to sa.
